You will probably recognize the opening line of this story, which is notorious for its melodramatic, wordy, and overall lousy style. The opening chapter here is the actual first two paragraphs from Bulwer-Lytton's novel. From the second page on, the story goes in whatever direction you wish to take it.
For those of you who decide to add your own chapter:
In honor of the terrible style of Bulwer-Lytton's infamous novel, you are invited to add the most melodramatic, wordy, awkwardly-written passages you can manage. This doesn't mean use incorrect grammar; Bulwer-Lytton's writing is correct, just bad.
